Latifa Mohammed Al-Abdulkarim is the Artificial intelligence Advisor at Ministry of Communication and Information Technology. She also works as an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at King Saud University, and a visiting researcher at University of Liverpool. She obtained her Ph.D. in Computer Science in Artificial Intelligence and Law from the University of Liverpool in 2017, M.Sc. degree (distinction) from the same university in the domain of Argumentation in autonomous systems and a PGD degree in Software Engineering.
Latifa developed “ANGELIC” a methodology for analysing legal cases to predict case opinions in the US Supreme Court. After that, she worked in collaboration with Wightmans law firm in applying her methodology on different legal case domains in the United Kingdom.
In addition to AI and Law, Latifa is interested in is the use of AI for good through examining the ethical and social dimensions of developing trust in AI.
